STORMZONE Joined By Original SWEET SAVAGE Drummer
September 27, 2007Irish band STORMZONE has amicably parted ways with drummer Glenn Gray. Glenn's permanent replacement is David Bates, the original drummer for NWOBHM legends SWEET SAVAGE. One of David's many admirers is METALLICA's Lars Ulrich who was blown away by the new STORMZONE drummer when he saw him onstage with SWEET SAVAGE supporting THIN LIZZY. METALLICA went on to record a SWEET SAVAGE song "Killing Time" (which David Bates co-wrote with current DEF LEPPARD guitarist Vivian Campbell, then also a member of SWEET SAVAGE) and this was included as the B-side to METALLICA's "The Unforgiven" single.
STORMZONE vocalist Harv and Davy Bates have previously worked together in EMERALD which was formed out of the ashes of SWEET SAVAGE with all members except Vivian Campbell, who at that time had went on to join DIO. STORMZONE rehearsals with the new sticks-man have been going brilliantly and the band are doing several Irish dates over the next few weeks as warm ups for their appearance at this year's Firefest on October 26. Attention will then turn to the studio and the band will be recording the follow-up to their debut album "Caught In The Act" in November for release in February/March 2008.
